Horses also on this trail so watch your footing for horse scat.
We even saw the moose family again on the way down about a quarter mile from the parking lot. Relatively easy trail.
Hikers should be prepared with water and snacks.
The hike through the forest is all uphill and is not bad and provides a couple of spots for camping or relaxing as you get closer to the falls.
Just beyond the cabin is the Summerland Park Group Campsite.
You cross some nice little streams that do have bridges if you don't want to get your feet wet. Be sure to hike up amongst the rocks above the falls and below to see the 3-4 cascades. The first mile is downhill and in an open area where it does get sunny and warm, be prepared for the warmth and the sun and you will have to hike up the hill on the way.
One of my favorite hikes in the state, and not too hard even if its a tad on the long side for me.
Cascade Falls is a spectacular, multi-tiered cascade that drops roughly 40 or 50 feet through a narrow granite chute. Inside the park, you’ll have the chance to take short hikes or simply relax.

For the most part the trail doesn't actually pass through Summerland Park, but rather skirts around its northern edge. Disappointed we didn’t see any moose since I have the last couple of times I hiked this trail. before using any information on this site. There is one point that you are on a narrow part of the trail and there is a rock cropping pushing you towards the edge of cliff that made me a little uncomfortable.
No wildlife, but the Aspen's are still quite pretty.

Excellent hike near Grand Lake. This also marks the spot where the dirt road turns into a regular trail.
Hike out is pretty easy and fast.
From there the CDT makes a semi-loop up to Flattop Mountain via the North Inlet Trail, before descending back down the Tonahutu Creek Trail and exiting the park via the Green Mountain Trail. Easy walk first part, then more rocky. Turn left and drive 0.2 miles along the dirt road to a spilt in the road, and then turn right to reach the North Inlet Trailhead.
The trail enters the park near Lake Granby and follows the western edge of the park up to Grand Lake.
